Duration - 1 day

This course is designed for carers and support workers who provide minimal mobility assistance. These courses are often delivered to staff who work in community or supported living schemes.

2 and 3 day courses are available for staff who support people with more complex handling needs.

Course includes:

·         Module A – Legislation and employers policy, ergonomics and risk assessment, structure and function of the spine, causes of injury, principles of safer moving and handling

·         Module B – Load handling, posture care and fitness

·         Module C – Individual handling assessment and plans, controversial practices, minimal mobility assistance e.g assisting to stand, sit, walk, falls and floor recovery
