This
well established programme aims to give participants the
knowledge and skills to design and deliver manual handling
training courses. It is specifically designed for trainers
working within health/ social care environments – manual
handling advisors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists
and others involved in teaching patient/client handling.
The course has
been approved by the Institution of Occupational Safety and
Health (IOSH) and HME is the only licensed provider.

The programme
is usually delivered in five one day modules over five
weeks, but can be tailored to particular organisation’s
needs. Each module covers different aspects of a basic
manual handling course, and participants have opportunities
to prepare and deliver short teaching sessions, with advice
and support.
Practical
activities covered can be tailored to particular services (
e.g. hospitals, schools, social care).
