This course has been designed for those who wish to develop
their expertise to the level where they can train others to
handle inanimate loads. It is delivered in three one day
modules which cover the knowledge and skills required to
present a basic load handling course:
Each module involves individual assessment that requires
preparation between the modules. It is therefore vital that
those who wish to attend this training have the enthusiasm
and commitment to undertake the self learning and individual
preparation between the modules that is integral to the
course.
Course includes:

Module 1:
Standards for manual handling training, legal
responsibilities, the ergonomic approach to injury
prevention

Module 2:
Causes of injury, effects of different postures and
movements, principles of safe moving and handling

Module 3:
Load handling training skills
Each module
covers different aspects of a basic manual handling course,
and participants have opportunities to prepare and deliver
short teaching sessions, with advice and support.
Practical
activities covered can be tailored to particular work
settings e.g. stores, portering, office environments,
housekeeping, domestic work, refuse and recycling.
