The course has been designed to give
participants the basic skills necessary to ensure their own
safety and that of others when using handling equipment. It
has been designed in a modular format to allow flexibility
and meet the needs of different staff groups. Participants
should have attended modules A-D before attending this
course.
The ½ day course concentrates wholly on
the safe use of hoists and slings
A variety of teaching methods are
used including groupwork, discussion, demonstration and
practise of handling activities. A comprehensive
handbook will be provided and a personal moving and handling
training record completed that provides evidence of continuous
professional development.
Course
includes:

Module E – Assistance with transfers and personal care

Module F – Safe
use of equipment including beds, wheelchairs,
hoists and slings
Practical
activities covered can be tailored to particular services e.g. hospitals, schools, social care.
